New Website for Help Resources and Hotlines

by Dr. Margaret Aranda

During the past years, many people have come to me with questions about various issues. So, in the madness of the daily rush and hustle, I did something new. I started a new website that is all about Persevering, Speaking Up, Finding Help, Getting to the Right Person, and well, just not being alone.

We all get lonely sometimes, but I do not want any one to think that there's no one who understands, no one who cares, no one who will the list.

So take a visit to  My Perseverance

Do not give up. Take life one moment, one second at a time. Be grateful for the things you do have. Sometimes, there's nothing else to do but pray. So whether it is is about dropping off a baby at a fire station, cutting, teen runaways, HIV / AIDS, growing old or being disabled, Caregiving, Financial matters, resources for the elderly, funding a nursing home without losing your home, legal and financial issues with a living will, or just some general information, check it out. Bet there's some one you know that can benefit. I Tracked Down phone numbers, websites (cut and paste them), as well as hours of operation, and whether or not it's a 24-hour hotline.

Oh. And if you are sick and are searching for a diagnosis, check out the "It's About Time" under Sections Resources 1 Maybe it can help. I want you to grow, to flourish, to strive, to accomplish, to achieve, and to persevere. If I can do it, you can do it. So hold my hand.

Like Bill Withers says in feeling song, "Lean on me when you're not strong, and I'll be your friend. I'll help you carry on. For it will not be long before I'm going to need somebody to lean on. "

Questions? Comments? Go for it.

Book Launch Party: No More Tears

Well, I'm so thrilled to say that the book launch was a success in the biggest sense of the word ... that I bought up for 3 hours, talked, and kept hydrated. And I did not pass out. It was like a reunion of beloved people from my past, some of whom I had not seen in 10 years. And yes, sold books. I can not tell you how much it meant to have all the support setting up, getting everything together, and hosting a book launch. The house looked picture perfect, the garden was in full bloom, and the handicap access from the back door to let that person in with no troubles. So much attention to so many details, and I could not have done it without the love and kindness of quite a Team of people. So many thanks.

Earlier in the week, I had a change of vasopressin (DDAVP it, or desmopressin acetate) medication that landed me with a blood pressure of 70/40 mmmhg on Sunday night I think. The family had called 911 and a committee of ambulances and fire trucks Gathered outside in the front driveway with lights glowing in many different circles, as if prepared for multiple people with a myriad of injuries. In all the controlled entropy, I just wanted to fall asleep. I could not remember the last time I was in a room with seven burly handsome men in uniform. (Thank you, Fire Department. If I had been feeling better, I would have said that, but, I just could not form any words that would go from my head to my mouth. It was no use.) Unbeknowingst to me, my body had lost its water from DU, and it was a true emergency. So I was taken to the hospital, and after being told that my blood pressure was 70/40 mm Hg, I was somehow able to ask for Trendelenburg position. The only thing I could remember is that I did not want to have another stroke. My BrainStem had to "see" a systolic blood pressure of at least 90 mm Hg.

So I think four days later, after iatrogenic hyponatremi to 121 and meeting the nicest nurse who also had DI, I finally had a sodium of 133 and could not leave. What does a sodium level of 121 feel like? It feels like your head is blown up like a balloon and your eyes are popping out, and you get a headache that is sharp and all over the inside of the skull.

I could not wait to get into my own bed in my own home. This was my first hospitalization where I had a room mate who liked to have the light on all night, and the TV on all night, so I think I needed sleep before 3 days of home.

I'll slowly be coming back to life. It was my daughter who INSISTED on calling 911. She said, "But Mom, your blood pressure is 70 over 40!). It is so unfair that a 10 year old can know this kind of stuff.

But then again, it is a good thing she did not let me fall asleep.
So it's a good thing she knows.
