Health and Wellness

by Dr. Margaret Aranda

It is so easy for someone with an Invisible Illness to be frustrated and/or disgruntled with the medical profession. It seems that women, perhaps more then men, tend to think that they are being ignored, treated as if they are pretending or lying, malingering, and are subjected to this over and over again to the point that they develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I'm here to tell you that I was there. I'm still there. I know what it feels like, and that's after a diagnosis of dysautonomia, traumatic brain injury with DI, vertebral artery syndrome, hypothyroidism, menopause, hypoperfusion of the brainstem, and more. More than all of that, I'm here to encourage you to Persevere. Keep searching for another doctor, another specialist. Ask other patients on the internet. It's okay. It's 2013 and that's how patients help one another these days.

Here's my contribution to help you push on. Because if I can do it, you can do it.

And because I believe in you.

If I can do it, so can you.
Why? Because I believe in you.

First Dysautonomia Support Group in Los Angeles

by Dr. Margaret Aranda

For an amazing and novel, inspirational time with salty snacks too, please come join us as we host the first Dysautonomia Support Group in Los Angeles.

The panel includes me as Patient and Advocate, Speaker and Expert (because I have it). I plan to skip church and rest in bed all day to make it, and I hope that those of you in Huntington Beach, L.A., Irvine, Fullerton, Pomona, and surrounding inland areas can come make it a day, too.

Caregivers and family members are welcomed, as long as the patient approves.

Now let's talk some Real Life here.
There will be refreshments (salty ones), drinks, and I'll even do
a Giveaway of my book, No MoreTears: A Physician Turned Patient Inspires Recovery

Be a part of life, part of the solution, and part of mentoring those who are new at this.
Together, we are strong!
